Foothills Community Care, in partnership with Churches of Christ Community Care, serves the local Ferntree Gully, Upwey and wider Hills community through weekly meal nights as well as an annual Ferntree Gully Christmas Day Lunch.
Foothills Community Care seeks to create an open and inclusive environment of love and acceptance in order to overcome isolation and despair. They provide over 9000 meals a year with the help of over 200 volunteers & have been a much-valued community partner of ours for many years.
Peace and Loyalty Lodge are based in Ferntree Gully and have been for over 98 years! Their focus is primarily on helping financially disadvantaged high school students to complete their education.
Peace and Loyalty Lodge provide funding in the form of student scholarships, directly to children from financially disadvantaged backgrounds enabling them to finish their education. The work they do in the local community is extremely valuable and they have been a community partner of ours for many years.
The Knox Historical Society has been a community partner of ours for many years. Their mission is to preserve, conserve and promote the rich history of Knox and the former shires of Berwick and Ferntree Gully.
Knox Historical Society was founded in 1965 and they now have over 90 members who help run their various programs. One of their current projects is the creation and publication of a book that will document the history of Knox and the former shires of Berwick & Ferntree Gully.
Liberty Avenue Playgroup was established by a group of Mothers in 1995 and has flourished since! They are a community owned, NFP playgroup that provides a safe and nurturing educational setting for children. Liberty Avenue Playgroup is run by one skilled educator and 16 parent volunteers.
The Group recently sort a grant to fund a “mud kitchen” for the children. The mud kitchen provides an innovative play space that encourages the children to play and develop skills.
Southern Bears Basketball Club is a community partner of ours and a Grant recipient. The Club was established in 2006 in the Southern Region of Knox (Rowville) are now in their 12th year.
They are a terrific club to be involved with and welcome everyone. The club was originally created by a group of boys, who wanted to share their passion for the game of basketball with friends by playing competitive basketball.
The Basin Music Festival are a community partner of ours. They are a NFP youth stage event that showcases over 200 performers from all musical disciplines. The event was founded in 2004 and supported by a keen group of 70 volunteers and committee members who bring the event to life.
The Basin Music Festivals provides a cultural and social focus on communal artistic expression and participation whilst promoting the talents of musicians from the basin area.
The Fields Preschool is a community partner of ours. Their focus is on gross motor skill and fine motor skill development as well as the development of social skills within children who attend their preschool.
The Fields Preschool learning program is centered on play-based learning and is delivered by qualified teachers that help promote learning in 3 to 5 yr olds. They have been the recipient of a number of Community Grants which are used to fund equipment and learning programs.
The Rowville Senior Citizens Club was founded in 1992 and are a long-term community partner of ours. Its primary purpose is to provide support and companionship for the more mature citizens of Rowville and surrounding areas.
The Rowville Senior Citizens Centre runs a number of programs that are focused on active aging which promotes mental and physical well-being in an affordable, safe and friendly environment. Members meet twice weekly, 48 weeks of the year for a range of activities.
Ferntree Gully Eagles Football Club and Netball Club is situated at the foot of the Dandenong’s and fields two senior XVIII sides, U19 side and junior teams from U8's to U17's. They are a long-term community partner of ours.
They play out of state of the art facilities that house both the junior and senior teams. The Ferntree Gully Eagles Football Club and Netball Club is a family orientated club providing a safe, social, sporting environment for the local community.
Knox Italian Community Club was established 1988 by a large group of Italian families. The club’s purpose is to provide a base for the Italian community and sporting clubs throughout Knox.
Knox Italian Community Club provides a place for its 250 members to socialize and support each other. The Italian community in and around Knox has a rich history and Italian Community Club helps ensure that history is passed from generation to generation.
Knox and District Toy Library Inc is a community-based, volunteer run, NFP organisation that was established in 1989. It consists of nearly 200 family members with children up to 8 years of age.
The Knox Toy Library provides a large variety of fun educational toys to families on a loan basis. This enables families that may otherwise not have the opportunity or means to purchase costly toys, the opportunity gives their children the latest toys that help mental and physical development.
Mountain District Learning Centre was established in 1974 as Mountain District Women's Co-operative Ltd. Today the Centre provides opportunities for men and women, young and old to access programs for education, skill development, friendship and enjoyment.
The purpose of the Mountain District Learning Centre is to enhance the lives of people of all ages, in the local area. It does this by providing education in a supportive environment and by building stronger communities.
The Gully Men's Shed Inc is based in the Dandenong Ranges National Park. They are a long-terms community partner of ours.
The Gully Men's Shed Inc is involved in helping the community by donating their services free of charge. They do garden maintenance and support local schools in the community. The Gully Men's Shed Inc is open to men and women who want to socialize learn and give back to the community.
The Ferntree Gully Traders Association represents businesses in Ferntree Gully, they are a long-term partner of ours. Their purpose is to help promote the growth and development of the businesses that operate within Ferntree Gully.
Ferntree Gully is a thriving activity centre surrounded by a supportive community. The Ferntree Gully Traders Association comprises representatives from local businesses within the shopping precinct. They volunteer their time and develop marketing and promotional activities to promote the Ferntree Gully shopping precinct.
The Knox Environment Society is a membership-based organisation of like-minded individuals that have a concern for the environment. They have been a community partner of ours for a number of years.
The Knox Environment Society was founded in 1982 by a group of people interested in their local environment and community. Over the years the group has flourished into a volunteer organization with over 100 members. The Society has established a community indigenous plant nursery, which is run by volunteers.
Coonara Community House seeks to foster a safe, supportive and friendly environment which inspires personal confidence and empowerment.
Coonara Community House is all about community participation and is committed to providing opportunities which are relevant and accessible to all. Coonara is run by a volunteer committee and they have supported the local community for over 40 years. They also provide adult educational programs, hobbies, vocational training and are licensed child care providers.
The Upper Ferntree Gully Football Club was established in 1948 and has consistently grown to be the club it is today. They are a long-term community partner of ours.
The Upper Ferntree Gully Football Club is a past community grant recipient and has used each of their grants to purchase equipment, uniforms and improve club sporting programs. The Club intends to use its 2018 community grant to replace the cover on the cricket pitch and provide new uniforms for women’s teams.
Regency Callisthenic College is dedicated to providing an environment that develops confidence, self worth, coordination, strength, grace, team spirit and a “I can” attitude. The Club has been a community partner of ours for a number of years.
Regency Callisthenic College has over 90 members and has been operating for 38 years with approximately 80 competing members. Calisthenics is an exciting sport unique to Australia that incorporates elements of dance, gymnastics, ballet, singing and acting.
Sherbrooke Basketball Association are a long term partner of ours and have been providing junior and senior basketball competitions for residents of the Yarra Ranges and Cardinia Shires since 1975.
Sherbrooke Basketball are a community based organisation with strong ties to local schools and businesses in Upwey, Belgrave, Monbulk, Emerald Gembrook and all surrounding areas.. They pride themselves on being able to meet the growing demand for basketball in the 'Hills' and are constantly striving to provide a safe and professional environment for players.
The Rowville Netball Club is a family orientated Club that provides itself on providing everyone with an opportunity to participate in netball.
The Knox Community Bank Group is a community partner of the Rowville Netball Club . The Club is made up of a passionate group of netball followers who either play or have played in the past & now focus on encouraging others and sharing their passion for netball with the local community. Rowville Netball Club is a growing club with 34 teams on the court during winter 2016! Team numbers have increased to 35, which is remarkable.
Eildon Park Cricket was formed in 1989 due to the community’s need for a cricket club that was centrally located in the rapidly growing Rowville area. The Knox Community Bank Group has been a long-term support of the Club.
As a not for profit community based sporting club the Eildon Park Cricket Club is run by volunteers. Their key purpose is to provide an environment that aids all members ranging from 5 - 70+ years of age, providing the opportunity to participate, support, enjoy the great game of cricket!
The Eildon Park Tennis Club (EPTC) is a well established and thriving tennis club located in Rowville. They have been a community partner of ours for sometime now & are a fantastic Club to work with.
They offer members 9 synthetic grass courts and can accommodate all levels of both junior and senior players. EPTC offers a friendly environment and welcomes everyone. Heading down to the courts on a weekend or weekday evening showcases EPTC at its peak; an infectious ambiance and a friendly community with a shared love of tennis.
The Liberty Avenue 3 Year Old Kinder is dedicated to providing children with the best possible start in life. They have been a community partner of ours for a number of years.
Liberty Avenue 3 Year Old Kinder offers a quality preschool environment for children ages 3 & 4. They are passionate and offer highly qualified educators to guide children through a rich and holistic educational curriculum, filled with planned and spontaneous learning experiences that will challenge and inspire your child.
The Angliss Hospital Ferntree Gully Auxiliary started more than 70 years ago and are a community partner of ours.
Since inception, the Angliss Hospital Ferntree Gully Auxiliary has grown to the busy hospital it is today. Angliss Auxiliary raises funds for much needed medical equipment & patient support. Their main source of income is from their opportunity shop, situated in the Ferntree Gully Village, which opened in 1961 and continues to run successfully through the efforts of Auxiliary volunteers.
The Basin Fire Brigade is a volunteer brigade of the Country Fire Authority (CFA) of Victoria. They are located at the base of the Dandenong Ranges approximately 33Km east of Melbourne and are a valued community partner of ours.
As Victorians we rely on CFA volunteers to help protect our lives and property. Any day or night of the year, these volunteers drop what they are doing to help others in our community. CFA volunteers do everything from fighting fires and road rescues to fundraising, marketing and community engagement.
The Rowville - Lysterfield Community News, conceived and started in September 1981, is a newspaper by the people, for the people, about the people. They are a valued community partner of ours.
The Rowville - Lysterfield Community News is designed to create a strong sense of community and it is an ideal forum for the community to express their viewpoints and stay abreast of local events. Produced monthly, the paper entertains the communities of Rowville and Lysterfield whilst offering local businesses access to the entire community in one publication.
TRIP (Teenage Road Information Program) is designed for 16 to 25 year-olds & their parents, it provides an in-depth insight into what happens to road crash victims and the aftermath caused by road accidents. Knox TRIP are also a community partner of ours.
Through the program, young people are encouraged to start conversations with family, friends and mates in order to make the right decisions when driving. Many find the program confronting, but living with the trauma of a road crash is far more confronting. The ultimate goal is to prevent any member of the Knox Community from suffering from road trauma.
The Winter Sleepover Knox & Dandenong Ranges is a response from the churches and local community in Knox and Dandenong Ranges to those who are sleeping rough over winter. They are a valued community partner of ours.
Their aim is to provide shelter, food, hospitality and support for people in a respectful way. They aim to provide over 700 beds through the winter period.
They are a volunteer based organisation and accept donations. We are grateful for the many churches and community groups who already have committed to helping this project get off the ground this winter.
Rowville Uniting Church operates from their Worship Centre on the corner of Fulham Road and Bridgewater Way, Rowville in 1989. They are a community partner of ours.
Their current Worship Centre was built in 1996 and included a new hall, kitchen extension, and rooms to conduct a low-cost counselling service. The original Worship space was converted to a multi-purpose hall with direct access to the kitchen. Rowville Uniting Church operates a number of programs focused on a range of ages and interests. They operate a toddler gym that has two sessions each day on Tuesday and Friday mornings.
The Knoxfield Cricket & Sporting Club fields teams in the senior and junior sections. They have a strong and proud history of success and are a community partner of ours.
The club has a wonderful inclusive culture and is very family focused with strong core community values. The Club fields junior teams from Under 10 through to under 16. The juniors consist of boys and girls and the Club strongly supports female involvement in cricket. The club fields senior sides and hopes the coming season will bring finals success.
