Equiknox is a volunteer committee established in 1999 to raise funds to assist the inclusion of children with additional needs into the Knox City Council's four old preschools. They believe that education is the right of every child and that all children are entitled to access to a government funded preschool program for their education. Some children require additional assistance to access and actively participate in a preschool program.

With this in mind, additional assistants need to be employed for more hours in preschool groups to provide extra support to teaching staff to ensure that all children have their needs met, regardless of abilities.

Equiknox applied for funding via a Community Grant to provide an additional 60 hours of assistant support to a preschool.

Knox Community Bank® Group was able to provide a Community Grant of $2000 to provide this critical support.

Foothills Community Care continues to give great service to the needy in the local Ferntree Gully area serving hot meals to a regular group of disadvantaged on a Wednesday night. Steve Barrington and his team of volunteers are due to serve their 400th meals night in October. Meals night have been occurring since 2007. What a huge effort this reflects. The team already served their 20,000th Wednesday night meal earlier this year!

Congratulations to the whole team for a wonderful, consistent effort - providing a nourishing meal and also a sense of family for those in our community who may otherwise be alone.

The Community Bank® is proud to be able to donate via a Community Grant, $4000 towards the cost of these meal nights.
